35 tonne exhaust duct on 7 trucks

Halvorsen Offshore has delivered new exhaust ducts to Statoil’s LM Turbine on Veslefrikk B
Seven trucks were necessary to transport the 50 meter long exhaust duct, weighing around 35 tonnes, from the factory in Kvinesdal to the offshore base outside Bergen.

- The production has been ongoing around the clock all summer.

After a detailed bidding process last winter, with several meetings in Bergen, Halvorsen was awarded the contract as the supplier of the new exhaust duct to the LM Turbine on Veslefrikk B.

The shipment was loaded on 7 trucks transporting the equipment to the offshore base outside Bergen for offloading and transportation offshore to the rig.

- The delivery is in AISI 321, an austenitic material, which is corrosion resistant and designed to withstand high temperatures.  Punctuality was a key focus for the project, so the logistics were of a very high importance to make the delivery on time. Upon completion, we sent a crew of 10 workers offshore for 16 days to dismantle the old duct and install the new onboard.

There is a lot of ongoing activity at Halvorsen in Kvinesdal. An engineering team is just now starting a project for a new bend for the Visund Platform, to be built in Alloy 800.
