A record-sized tank is produced in the workshop

A larger tank has never been produced in Tratec Halvorsen's workshop. The 6Mo tank measures almost 20 meters.

- Now we are in the workshop at the biggest tank that we have ever had here, says chairman Harald Klungland.

The tank is almost 20 metres, 58 tonnes and has a 4.7 diameter interior, and is produced in 6Mo – a stainless steel alloy with a high content of molybdenum (Mo). This steel grade is used in corrosive environments, especially where extra resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and chloride corrosion is required.

- There is a lot of work on it to complete. We weld and use the assembly station to clamp it together. Simply complete it, says Klungland, and adds:

- Almost everyone is on deck. Because it is a difficult job. But we are betting on being finished fairly quickly.

Full pipe production in the workshop

Tratec Halvorsen now produces frame structures, pipes and tanks for two large development projects on the Norwegian continental shelf.

The coalescer leaves the workshop

After several hundred hours of welding and other mechanical work, the coalescer could be transported out of the workshop hall.
