School pupils get a taste of workshop life
- This seems like a decent place to work, says Thea Malene Rafoss-Olsen (16).
Together with Javed Sahak (17) and two other students from technology and industrial subjects at Flekkefjord upper secondary school, she has been on placement at Tratec Halvorsen.
- We will be here for four weeks, says Thea Malene.
She and Javed are in the workshop every Monday. Two other students come on Wednesdays.
- WE HAVE BEEN shown around a bit and has also helped a bit. Including assembly, says Thea Malene.
- It seems like a decent place to work, adds Javed.
At school, they learn about everything from production planning and production processes to automation and programming robots. They also gain knowledge about machines and production equipment, about vehicles and transport, chemical processes and chemical engineering, and
on health, environment and safety.
- IT WORKS a lot in welding and turning at school, explains Thea Malene.
- Not so different here in the workshop?
- No, but everything is a bit bigger here.
Both she and Javed are from Kvinesdal, and therefore knew Tratec Halvorsen from before.
- We already know where it is, but it's fun to come in and see what it's like in the workshop.
IN THE SPRING is there a deployment to a new workplace.
- It will be in another place. We are not allowed to choose the same thing, says Thea Malene.
In the long term, they might consider applying for an apprenticeship at Tratec Halvorsen.
- It is a bit early to say so much about it, but it is a possibility, says Thea Malene.
Thea Malene Rafoss-Olsen (16) thinks it was fun to come in and see what goes on in the workshop.
Javed Sahak (17) enjoys himself in the workshop at Tratec Halvorsen.
