The biggest inspection job of all time

Close to 50 tanks and 20 heat exchangers are to be checked. The assignment employs over 30 employees.

- This is a crazy big and important job. It was started in the spring of 2020 and will last well into 2022, says Bjørn Helleren, head of service and aftermarket.

Tratec Halvorsen has not yet received permission to name the client. But Helleren can lighten the veil a bit:

- IT'S TALK about an inspection job where we will assess the condition of between 40 and 50 tanks and 20 heat exchangers. We point out errors and deficiencies, and report back what needs to be repaired if the equipment is to be able to live for another 25 years, says Helleren.

The customer reviews each report, and then chooses what needs to be upgraded. When that job is to be distributed, Tratec Halvorsen is naturally far ahead in the queue.

- WE GET A LOT of the upgrade jobs on tanks and heat exchangers we have inspected. So one often leads to the other, says Helleren.

Included in the framework agreement with the customer is also a check of so-called "metering skids" - fixed installations that measure how much oil is extracted. Pipes and valves on a number of process tanks are also inspected.

- WE HAVE IT at any time 14 men on the construction site. They work 12 days straight, and are then replaced by a new work team. In addition, we have a support team in Kvinesdal, says Helleren, and emphasizes:

- We are incredibly proud to have received this contract. One thing is that it gives work to so many. But the agreement is also a feather in Tratec Halvorsen's cap as a company. The fact that we are chosen as a supplier for such a large assignment confirms that we have unique expertise in pressure and temperature technology.
