\u2013 There are two major tasks. The old exhaust ducts have been replaced with new ones, while in the pressure tanks we have replaced the internals and carried out welding repairs and pressure testing, says project manager Roald Ingebretsen.<\/p>\n

The upgrade of the Jotun FPSO at the Worley Rosenberg Stavanger yard is part of V\u00e5r Energi's initiative to increase oil recovery from the Balder field in the North Sea.<\/p>\n

The work on the exhaust ducts began in March 2022. The ducts in the ship's forward engine room and aft fire pump room are being replaced. Halvorsen are dismantling the old ones, producing new ones in the workshop in Kvinesdal, and installing them on board.<\/p>\n

WORKING ON<\/strong>\u00a0The upgrade of the pressure tanks is also in the final stages. Between 10 and 15 men have been busy with this at the Rosenberg shipyard. In addition, four employees in Kvinesdal are engaged full-time.<\/p>\n

Tank bottoms are replaced, tank bottoms are repaired and more nozzles are exchanged.<\/p>\n

\u2013 We\u2019re breathing new life into 30 offshore tankers. Eight of them have been transported to our workshop in Kvinesdal and renovated here. The rest are being upgraded on the ship itself, says Ingebretsen.<\/p>\n

THE STARTING POINT<\/strong>\u00a0For the assignment, an inspection job with a condition assessment of nearly 50 tanks and 20 heat exchangers was carried out. Faults and deficiencies were identified here, and the customer was informed of what needed to be repaired to extend the lifespan of the equipment.<\/p>\n
