Halvorsen is participating in the Yggdrasil project with the fabrication of large process tanks. The agreement will have a total value of over NOK 100 million.
– THE CONTRACT This allows us to employ engineers, production personnel and apprentices for approximately two years. Furthermore, it has enabled us to invest in state-of-the-art robotic welding machines, which in turn makes us competitive in the international market, says Helleren.
Parliament approved development plans for three new North Sea oil fields in June of this year – Yggdrasil, Valhall, and Fenris.
Yggdrasil is estimated to have an investment framework of 115 billion Norwegian kroner. The other two projects are estimated to cost 50 billion Norwegian kroner.

– The projects create significant ripple effects, provide security for people and jobs, and not least, generate revenue for the state. These are enormously large projects that create employment all along the coast, said the Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Terje Aasland, during Parliament's consideration of the project.
YGGDRASIL DEVELOPMENT, which were adopted at the meeting, are expected to have recoverable resources of 650 million barrels of oil equivalent. For Valhall and Fenris, recoverable resources are expected to be 367 million barrels of oil equivalent.
The developments will be powered by shore power and are planned to start up in 2027.
– There will be activity at the shipyards in Egersund, Stavanger, Haugesund, Stord, Verdal and Sandnessjøen, as well as at a number of suppliers across the country, Aasland stated.
