– This is an incredibly big and important job. It was started in the spring of 2020 and will continue well into 2022, says Bjørn Helleren, head of service and aftermarket.

Halvorsen has not yet been given permission to name the client. But Helleren can lift the veil a little:

– IT'S TALK and an inspection job where we will assess the condition of between 40 and 50 tanks and 20 heat exchangers. We point out faults and defects, and report back what needs to be repaired if the equipment is to last another 25 years, says Helleren.

The client goes through each report and then selects what may need upgrading. When that job is to be allocated, Halvorsen is naturally at the front of the queue.

– WE GET MANY of the upgrade jobs on tanks and heat exchangers we have inspected. So one thing often leads to another, says Helleren.

Included in the framework agreement with the customer are also checks of so-called «metering skids» – fixed installations that measure how much oil is extracted. Furthermore, pipes and valves on a number of process tanks are inspected.

– WE HAVE TO There are always 14 men on the construction site. They work for 12 days straight, and are then relieved by a new work team. In addition, we have a support team in Kvinesdal, says Helleren, and emphasises:

– We are incredibly proud to have secured this contract. One thing is that it provides work for so many. But the agreement is also a feather in Halvorsen's cap as a company. That we are chosen as a supplier for such a large assignment confirms that we possess unique expertise in print and temperature technology.
