Several teams on North Sea jobs

- We have two teams out there, one that works for Aker BP and one that is hired by Lundin, says Bjørn Helleren, head of service and aftermarket.

Both teams consist of five men - a project manager who is based in Kvinesdal and four mechanics who rotate to be out on the platform. The four who work outside work in rotation - two weeks on and two weeks off.

- BOTH FOR At Aker BP and Lundin, we carry out various types of mechanical maintenance. There can be various screwing and welding of pipes, tanks and railings, says Helleren.

Lundin is a Swedish-owned oil company that operates petroleum operations on the Norwegian continental shelf. The company has primarily concentrated its activities around the Alvheim and Edvard Grieg areas in the central North Sea.

Aker BP is the operator of the field centers Valhall, Ula, Ivar Aasen, Alvheim and Skarv. In addition, the company has a license share in the Johan Sverdrup field.

TRATEC HALVORSEN has also received a new contract on the Goliat field in the Barents Sea.

- We did a repair and modification job on a process heat exchanger on the Goliat FPSO last year. The client was so satisfied with the work we did that we have now been given a new assignment to be carried out in November and December, says Helleren.

IT'S TALK about the same type of work – special welding in 22cr duplex, which is a steel material that is widely used in pipes and valves offshore. Tratec Halvorsen has several welders who are certified for such assignments.

The Goliath field is an oil and gas field located 85 kilometers northwest of Hammerfest. Goliath is considered the first oil discovery north of Lofoten. The first oil was produced on March 12, 2016, and the field was officially opened on April 18 of the same year.
